ANC leader murder suspect arrested

A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of eThekwini regional ANC boss, Sbu Sibiya, police said today.  

"A 34-year-old man was arrested in Durban’s Yellowwood Park on Friday in connection with Sibiya’s murder," said Director Phindile Radebe.

The man would appear in court tomorrow, she said.

Last week, Zamani Sikhakhane, another suspect in the Sibiya murder case, was killed during a shootout with the police. Sikhakhane’s landlord, Bongani Tembe and policeman Warrant Officer Rakesh Maharaj were also killed in the shootout.

The man would appear in court tomorrow.

Sibiya was killed in a hail of bullets when he entered his home in Inanda outside Durban in July this year. The police recently offered a R50 000 reward for information leading  to the arrest and conviction of Sibiya's killers.-Sapa
