Durban, KwaZulu Natal, South Africa.
The Durban Business Fair (DBF) this year is celebrating its 20 year long journey as the only government programme, in the country, that focuses on creating opportunities for local businesses to be discovered by potential clients, to be informed about enterprise development and support opportunities, and how they can run their businesses more profitably and sustainably.
Kings and Queens with David Mashabela will broadcast live from the event.
The DBF has been running nonstop since inception as small arts and craft exhibition to what now is a weeklong of business engagements through conferences, exhibition, master classes in music & filmmaking, etc. and live empowerment experiences in innovation and technology, food, art, craft, fashion, beauty and style. The programme also features exclusive interactive platforms for women empowerment and broadening youth with new possibilities.
To create a conducive platform where SMMEs can be discovered and interact with potential clients in big business, government, international trade, general and communities. Exhibitors also get the opportunity to gain access to various support mechanisms, information and opportunities that exist in government, private sector and amongst themselves – this is important especially for SMMEs to establish linkages amongst each other and build their network instead of seeing each as competition event in instances where they can collaborate to access bigger opportunities or create solutions. On average over 500 exhibitors participate in the Fair. These also include international sister cities that participate in the exhibition but also through conversations on investment, creating business opportunities through their value chains.
Another benefit for registered SMME exhibitors is that they get to be part of the DBF Excellence Awards which aim to reward and encourage business excellence amongst SMMEs in Durban. The Awards Categories include: -
• Youth Owned Enterprise
• Women Owned Enterprise
• Rural/ Township Based Enterprise
• People with Disability Owned Enterprise
• Long Stand Enterprise (most participative at the Fairs)
Whilst the Fair is scheduled from 18 to 24 September, the exhibition starts on Friday 21 to 24 September. 24 September is a bonus day as exhibitors only pay the normal price for three days.
For the general public wanting to see and take advantage of the empowerment activities, ENTRANCE IS FREE!!!!
